Job Description

Saint Luke's is seeking a Full-Time Sterile Processing Tech - Complex Care (Day Shift) at Saint Luke's Hospital (4401 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO).

Position Details:

• Night Shift Hours: Mon-Fri (11pm - 7:30am)
• Processing instruments used in surgical procedures
• Cleaning soiled instruments (decontamination)
• Sterilizing instruments and storing sterile supplies
• Documenting processes accurately
• High attention to detail required

Experience:

• Sterile Processing Tech experience preferred

The Sterile Processing Technician supports trauma, transplant, neuro surgery, and cardiovascular surgery service lines by decontaminating, disinfecting, cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging supplies and instruments per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines. Maintains proper documentation and performs equipment testing to ensure functionality. IAHCSMM certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities include:

• Pre-cleaning of instruments at the point of care
• Donning and doffing PPE
• Soaking instruments in enzymatic detergent
• Scrubbing all instrument surfaces
• Using washers and ultrasonic cleaners as per manufacturer instructions
• Final rinsing with appropriate solutions
• Inspecting instruments for maintenance needs
• Packaging for sterilization and autoclaving
• Completing and logging biological tests with follow-up on failures
• Testing autoclaves and sterilizers for proper function
• Operating sterilization equipment per guidelines
• Maintaining storage areas for sterilized items, ensuring package integrity
• Transporting instruments appropriately based on cleanliness status
• Other duties as assigned
