Job summary

Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Night Sterile Processing Technician to wrap, seal, and label sterile articles, decontaminate and clean equipment, and prepare instrument trays. You will monitor sterilizers, log indicators, and support coordination with the surgical teams while maintaining a safe, organized environment in accordance with OSHA standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and CSPDT certification, with a preference for at least one year of healthcare

  • CSPDT certification is required or CBSPD Inc certification.

Responsibilities

  • Wraps, seals, and labels articles for identification, sterilization, and distribution.
  • Decontaminates and cleans equipment according to guidelines.
  • Inspects instruments for proper working condition and identifies items for repair.
  • Assembles and accounts for all instruments trays according to the tray listing.
  • Monitors sterilizers by checking indicators and charts for proper function.
  • Logs data related to indicators per policy.
  • Completes soiled utility rounds and assists with urgent needs.
  • Keeps work environment clean, organized and OSHA-compliant.
  • Coordinates routine activities with surgical suite personnel and adjusts schedules.
  • Uses chemical disinfection and sterilization protocols and records steps in the inventory system.
