Job summary

Heritage Valley Health System is seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician to join our team, supporting surgeons and clinical staff with sterile supplies.

This role requires CRCST certification, a high school diploma, and the ability to pass a national exam within 18 months, plus annual continuing education and required clearances.

Qualifications

• CRCST certification is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a nationally accredited central service exam and maintain certification.
• 18 months to pass exam after hire.
• Must complete 10 hours of continuing education annually.
• Clearances completed within 90 days of starting.
• Pre-2020 CSP Techs are exempt from certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates and reprocesses all in-house prepared sterile supplies.
• Issues, tracks, decontaminates, maintains and transports various patient care equipment.
• Provides quality patient care by ensuring sterile supplies and equipment are ready for use.

$2,000 Sign-on/Retention Bonus Eligible for Full-Time Employment

Department: Central Sterile Processing

Work Hours: 10 hour shift rotating & Weekend call, and one holiday per year.

Decontaminates and reprocesses all in-house prepared sterile supplies. Issues, tracks, decontaminates, maintains, transports various types of patient care equipment, to provide Quality Patient Care.

Qualifications

Required

• CRCST required
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Effective December 28, 2020 for newly hired Central Sterile Processing (CSP) Techs:
• Must pass a nationally accredited central service exam for CRCST and maintain certification
• CSP technicians will have 18 months from date of hire to pass a nationally accredited central service exam
• Must complete 10 hours of continuing education annually.
• Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.
• CSP Techs employed as central service technicians prior to the effective date of Act 80 (12/28/2020) are exempt from certification requirements.

Preferred

• Central Sterile Processing experience.
