The role emphasizes precise technique, inventory control, and collaboration with clinical staff to maintain instrument readiness for procedures. Experience with EPIC is a plus, and travel or on-call is not required.

Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical devices used in surgical services. This role ensures that all sterile processing procedures meet regulatory and safety standards to support patient care in a short-term acute care facility. The technician works closely with surgical teams and other healthcare staff to maintain a sterile environment and ensure the availability of necessary equipment for procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate, clean, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
• Assemble sterile trays and sets based on surgical case requirements.
• Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and report shortages or equipment malfunctions.
• Ensure compliance with infection control standards and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with surgical and clinical staff to coordinate instrument needs and resolve issues.
• Document sterilization processes and maintain accurate records.
• Participate in quality control and performance improvement activities.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum of 1 year experience in sterile processing; 2 years preferred.
• Certification as CBSPD (Certified Biological Safety Professional) or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) required.
• Ability to follow strict sterilization and safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a short-term acute care or hospital surgical environment.
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system is advantageous.

Special Considerations:

• No on-call requirements.
• Local travelers with permanent residence within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for travel contracts.
• All return-to-office (RTO) requirements must be included in application submissions.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of three 9-hour shifts, Friday through Monday, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
