Job description

Receives, decontaminates and processes instrumentation and equipment used in the hospital and various outside agencies, as well as the documentation of those processes. Supports System and Nursing Strategic Plans, Relationship-Based Care, and Shared Leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Complies with CapsuleAID policies/procedures.
  • Complies with client facility nursing policies/procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Communicates information effectively to appropriate personnel.
  • Decontamination of equipment and carts (crash or isolation) returned from the Nursing units.
  • Retrieving soiled instruments from the Nursing units.
  • Decontamination of instrumentation received from areas within the hospital and outside agencies.
  • Sealing decontamination boxes and making new ones as needed (DGH only).
  • Ordering of supplies needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Assemble soft goods for sterilization.
  • Stock crash cart after use and return to pharmacy.
  • Stock isolation carts.
  • Run Bowie Dick and biological tests, and record appropriately.
  • Count, wrap and process instrumentation for sterilization.
  • Document accurately processing information of loads.
  • Restock carts as needed to include isolation, crash, specialty, etc.
  • Provide and maintain a clean work environment on a daily basis.
  • Functions cooperatively as a team member. Responds as directed by the Charge Nurse to the changing needs of patients and the unit.
  • Offers support and feedback to peers and staff. Applies principles of caring and healing in interactions with patients and families and with colleagues.
  • Seeks and supports opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Serves as coach and mentor for less experienced colleagues.
  • Offers consistent and visible support to team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
  • Ensures accuracy in the medication process, including, transport, storage, security, and/or administration of medications to include IV solutions.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
JOB SUMMARY

Sterile Processing Tech II to work 8H Nights 3P11:30P 40 hours a week, rotating weekends, no on-call. Must have 2 years, prior travel preferred but not required. CERT is needed with 2-year exp is required. Processes surgical instrument sets which include decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, storage and distribution to user departments. Involves the use of software system for instrument management to complete assigned tasks. May also be assigned to assist with training (preceptor) of less experienced permanent team members. COVID vaccine required. Medical Declination accepted, Must have signed and authorized documentation from Physician.

EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma.
LICENSURE

EXPERIENCE
  • At least 2 years of work experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
  • 1st time travelers okay.
  • Preferred experience w/DaVinci Instrumentation.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Black Scrubs Provided
CREDENTIALS
  • Current CPR is required by client facility; other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.
