Job summary

MUSC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team to support critical care across our healthcare enterprise. You will maintain instrument inventory, perform decontamination and cleaning, and load instruments into washers and sterilizers to ensure readiness for procedures.

You will inspect instruments for cleanliness and function, follow PPE guidelines, and assist the OR team by assembling case carts and distributing equipment promptly. Some travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required for all levels
• CRCST or CBSPD/HSPA certification required for the level progressed
• Certification incentive and training offered by MUSC

Responsibilities

• Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment
• Decontaminate and clean instrumentation according to standards
• Prepare case carts and load into washers/sterilizers as prescribed
• Operate index and cart washers and ultrasonic cleaners
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness and proper function
• Use appropriate packaging and know PPE requirements
• Sterilize instruments and trays and validate parameters
• Support OR team by obtaining instruments promptly for procedures
• Travel between sites as needed based on departmental needs
