Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Sterile Processing Professional to safeguard patient safety by ensuring sterile, functional instruments are available for surgical teams. You will perform decontamination, preparation, packing, sterilization, and dispatch with accuracy and professionalism, while expanding knowledge of industry standards and procedures.

Qualifications

• One year of related work experience in operating room, acute care hospital, or central services.
• Certification within 6 months: CSPT, CSPDT, or CSP Dist Supervisor (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Collect, decontaminate, clean reusable equipment and supplies per standards.
• Inspect, disassemble, and process instruments; select proper cleaning methods and agents.
• Assemble instrument sets for sterilization and ensure proper packaging.
• Inspect instruments for sharpness, tightness, and absence of defects.
• Ensure broken/dull instruments are repaired or sharpened; prepare packed trays within weight/sterilization criteria.
• Sterilize equipment using steam or chemical methods per standards.
