Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech for the Jewish Hospital location in Louisville, KY. The role focuses on decontamination, sterilization, and storage of instruments to support patient care.

The position covers first shift 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and requires adherence to AAMI/AORN and CDC guidelines, with opportunities to mentor new staff and contribute to department efficiency.

Qualifications

• Understanding of policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work independently in decontamination, sterilization and storage.
• Preceptor support to other employees.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone promptly and assist caller with obtaining items needed
• Assembles supplies and places into case carts for scheduled and non-scheduled procedures
• Delivers scheduled case carts to the Surgery Department
• Inspects, assembles, and packages all decontaminated instruments and sets ensuring cleanliness and functionality
• Operates all processing equipment used within the department and performs sterilization monitoring
• Maintains department organized, neat, clean, and fully stocked while providing quality customer service
• Contributes to all official departmental business in a professional manner
• Displays behavior aligned with the SPD Mission, Vision, and Values
