Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support decontamination, sterilization, and sterile storage operations in the JHHS department at Jewish Hospital - UMC, Louisville, KY. You will help maintain instrument inventory and ensure compliant handling of reprocessed items.

You will follow safety rules, HIPAA privacy, and guidelines from AAMI, AORN, and CDC while working under a preceptor and assisting new staff as needed. This is a full-time hospital role with rapid throughput.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates understanding of policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work independently in decontamination, sterilization, and sterile storage activities.
• Maintain instrument inventory and ensure safe handling of reusable instruments.
• Follow safety and HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone and assists callers with items needed.
• Assembles supplies for procedures and takes to case carts.
• Delivers case carts to Surgery Department and related areas.
• Performs cleaning and decontamination of instruments; inspects and packages sets.
• Operates processing equipment used within the department.
• Supports preceptor with training new employees.
• Maintains department organization, cleanliness, and stock levels.
