Qualifications

• Applies critical thinking to solve problems in prep and decontam areas.

Responsibilities

• Maintains workstation and Prep/Decontam areas in a neat, orderly, and efficient manner.
• Ensures the cleanliness of all instruments processed by inspection and adherence to infection control standards.
• Assists other departments and personnel in acquiring instrumentation/equipment.
• Demonstrates understanding of Prep/Decontam policies and procedures.
• Checks all instrument sets per lists or policy.
• Removes defective instruments and informs appropriate personnel.
• Wraps and labels instrument packages for sterilization and ownership.
• Places instrumentation in proper locations in prep and surgery areas.
• Operates equipment according to manufacturers' instructions in Prep/Decontam areas.
• Inspects instrument storage areas daily to maintain cleanliness and sterility.
• Retrieves instrumentation from Surgery area and processes promptly.
• Assists in decontamination duties of surgical instrumentation and SPD equipment.
• Adheres to safety, policies, and departmental standards.
