Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for the CSPS department at 80 Blossom Street. You will perform decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of reusable medical devices and instrumentation in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent, CRCST or CSPDT certification, and 1–2 years of healthcare experience. You will follow IFUs, maintain traceability, and support patient safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
• 1-2 years experience as Central Sterile Technician in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile processing principles, instrumentation, sterilization methods, and infection prevention standards.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures, quality standards and safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and effective teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical devices and surgical instrumentation.
• Operates sterile processing equipment, including washers and sterilizers, per IFU and policies.
• Inspects instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and completeness; identifies items needing repair or replacement.
• Assembles instrument trays, procedure sets, and equipment per standardized listings and quality standards.
• Uses instrument tracking systems to document processing and maintain traceability.
• Maintains inventory of sterile supplies and processing consumables.
• Transports instruments and supplies to procedural and patient care areas.
• Reports equipment malfunctions, processing concerns, quality issues, and safety risks.
• Complies with regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, and departmental standards.
• Participates in training, competency validation, and continuous improvement activities.
