Job summary

Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part-time Sterile Processing Technician, is seeking a detail‑oriented professional to prepare, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments for the Central Processing department in Minneapolis. The role emphasizes safety, compliance and accurate documentation, with night shifts and weekend rotation.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience in sterile processing or related technical training.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience.
• Prefer high school diploma, Sterile Processing experience, or related vocational training.

Responsibilities

• Provides sterile equipment and supplies to surgery and other departments, including decontamination, cleaning, sterilization and processing of supplies and equipment.
• Demonstrates skill in preparation of surgical instruments and assembles instrument sets and trays.
• Operates washers/disinfectors, ultrasonic machines and sterilizers safely, and documents loads and tests.
• Pulls cases for next day and emergencies; completes paperwork for compliant charging and billing.
• Reports unsafe situations and malfunctions to supervisor; supports Sterile Core and Case Carts as assigned.
