Job summary

Washington Regional Medical System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate and sterilize hospital instruments and to maintain stock in the sterile processing department.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and certification requirements including BLS, CRCST, and CER within specified timeframes. Previous healthcare experience is preferred; the position may involve standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and exposure to body fluids.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• CRCST certification required within 1 year of hire or transfer.
• CER certification required within 2 years of hire or transfer.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate and sterilize hospital instruments following established protocols.
• Assemble and sterilize instruments ensuring proper sterilization technique.
• Catalog and restock crash carts and urology carts.
• Ensure High-Level Disinfection (HLD) of semi-critical items.
• Assemble case carts as needed for surgical cases.
• Properly open and store stock as required.
