Job summary

Washington Regional Medical System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate and sterilize hospital instruments and to maintain stock in the sterile processing department.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and sterilize hospital instruments following established protocols.
  • Assemble and sterilize instruments ensuring proper sterilization technique.
  • Catalog and restock crash carts and urology carts.
  • Ensure High-Level Disinfection (HLD) of semi-critical items.
  • Assemble case carts as needed for surgical cases.
  • Properly open and store stock as required.

This position is responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of all hospital instruments.Essential Position ResponsibilitiesEnsure proper protocol is followed for the decontamination of instrumentsAssemble and sterilize instruments ensuring proper sterilization techniqueCatalog and re-stock crash carts and urology cartsEnsure proper High-Level Disinfection (HLD) of semi-critical items is performedAssemble case carts as needed for surgical caseProperly open and ensure stock is stored appropriatelyQualificationsEducation: High school diploma or GEDLicensure and Certifications: BLS, required within 90 days of hire. CER certification required within 2 years of hire or transfer.Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.Work Environment: This position will spend 100% of the time standing and/or walking short distances with frequent pushing, pulling, and/or lifting up to 50lbs.
