Job summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to provide on-site support for reprocessing surgical instruments and sets. You will assist in decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization and storage while adhering to the facility's standards and policies.

Key duties include participating in orientation, promoting lean practices, and communicating professionally with hospital staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist program preferred.
• Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM or two years of experience in lieu of certification.
• Extensive knowledge of instrumentation.
• Ability to act as a resource for staff in SPD and OR regarding identification and assembly of specialty instruments and trays.
• Ability to work daily in a fast-paced Healthcare Services environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-site support for the reprocessing of surgical instruments and sets to contracted facilities in compliance with relevant standards.
• Supports daily operations of reprocessing activities including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization and storage.
• May participate in new employee orientation and on-the-job training.
• Promotes lean work environment concepts.
• Communicates professionally to hospital staff and company employees.
• Follows chain of command for issue resolution.
