Job summary

Riverside Health in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Sterile Processing professional to ensure instrument preparation, sterilization, and documentation meet AORN, AMMI, ISSHAM, and CDC standards. The role includes acting as a preceptor for aides and potential cross-facility deployment.

You will maintain sterile technique, participate in turnover of ORs, and ensure safe patient environments while aligning priorities with OR needs. Prior sterile processing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education Program Graduate, Sterile Processing (Preferred).
• Experience 1 year Sterile processing experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Functions in Preceptor role for Sterile Processing Aides.
• Has working knowledge of regulatory requirements and can apply critical thinking skills to situation at hand for resolution.
• Expected to float to other RHS facilities for like competencies.
• Responsible for maintaining knowledge and applying it to instrument/equipment/room decontamination and sterilization process that meets AORN, AMMI, ISSHAM, and CDC standards.
• Provides a safe, efficient and supportive environment for the patient and self by using appropriate protective equipment, body mechanics, and follows safety guidelines and procedures.
• Identifies and acts to resolve any variance or suspected noncompliance to management.
• Assists in the turnover of the procedure room or operating room to include cleaning/disinfecting, trash/linen removal and instrument cleaning.
• Responsible for maintaining and supporting production and assembly of instruments and trays, to include ability to align priorities with needs of patient and the Operating Room.
• Demonstrates intermediate to advanced technical knowledge/clinical competencies in sterile processing as evidenced by the ability to assume a role in customer service as needed.
• Responsible for accurate and complete all sterile documentation and paperwork associated with sterilization logs.
