Allegheny Clinic is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician who will decontaminate, clean, and assemble surgical instruments while ensuring regulatory compliance. You will monitor sterilization cycles, document results, and deliver sterile items to departments in a timely manner.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, appropriate certifications, and at least one year of sterile processing experience. A focus on safety and quality is essential in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification must be obtained at hire.
• CST or TSC certification meets the license requirement.
• Minimum 1 year experience in sterile processing.
• In-house incumbents have 18 months to achieve new qualifications.
• Compliance with HIPAA and privacy policies is required.

Responsabilités

• Receives and sorts contaminated instruments from departments.
• Disassembles, cleans, and inspects instruments for cleanliness and function.
• Assembles instrument sets according to count sheets.
• Packages instruments for sterilization and loads sterilization equipment.
• Monitors sterilization cycles and verifies parameters meet standards.
• Maintains PPE, infection control, and safety procedures.
• Operates decontamination equipment and troubleshoots minor issues.
• Documents sterilization cycles and maintains records.
• Delivers sterile items to requesting departments promptly.
• Keeps work area clean and trains new staff on procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
