Job summary

Humble Vascular Surgical Center Inc. is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician who will prepare and test surgical instruments according to AAMI standards.

The role includes inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining sterilization records to ensure readiness for the operating room schedule. The ideal candidate has a Sterile Processing certificate, BLS certification, and experience in instrument handling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent.
• Certified Sterile Processing Certificate required.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and principles of sterilization.
• Ability to read and interpret documents.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Organizes time, equipment, supplies and ensures needed items are readily available for the OR based on the daily schedule.
• Uses equipment accurately to avoid damage or loss of instruments.
• Adheres to aseptic techniques and sterilization standards at all times.
• Manages inventory of supplies and equipment in instrument, decontamination and sterile supply rooms.
• Performs daily testing and records sterilization logs; conducts load-specific biological testing as required.
• Follows IFU instructions for cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
• Cleans, wraps and sterilizes equipment using steam, Sterrad, Steris, and EPR methods.
• Ensures instruments are accounted for upon receipt from the OR.
• Assists in turnover of OR rooms between cases and other duties as requested by supervisor.
