Job summary

SCA Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Sterile Processing Clerk (Instrument Processing Technician) to maintain instruments and prepare supplies for the surgical patient.

You will work under the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse, applying sterilization and disinfection knowledge, and may assist with inventory and purchasing as needed.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED; prior instrument processing experience is preferred, and BCLS certification within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Knowledge of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies including industry standardized principles and practice in sterilization and disinfection required.
• Prior experience in instrument processing preferred.
• Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist preferred.
• Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment required or documentation of current BCLS certification.
• Certification in instrument processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate as Instrument Processing Technician under the direction of the Clinical Leader/Registered Nurse.
• Follow sterilization standards and aseptic techniques for all instruments and equipment.
• Clean, wrap, sterilize, and disinfect instruments and equipment and maintain the instrument processing area.
• Assist with crossover duties in purchasing supplies and inventory management as directed by facility policy.
