Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure proper decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and trays. The role emphasizes patient safety, cleanliness, and adherence to infection control standards.

You will work under RN supervision, handle a high volume of cases, and contribute to cost-effective inventory management while supporting a compassionate healthcare team across Kentucky and surrounding regions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred; CBSPD/CER noted for Endoscopy.
• Familiarity with perioperative instrumentation and inventory systems.

Responsibilities

• Collect soiled case carts, break down instruments, ensure cart is clean and ready for next case.
• Disassemble, decontaminate, rinse and disinfect instruments and equipment per protocols.
• Operate cleaning equipment (instrument washers, case cart washers, ultrasonic washers).
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness and proper function before packaging.
• Assist with endoscopy turnover and inventory control of equipment/supplies.
• Maintain documentation of sterilization processes and quality checks.
• Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
