Sterile Processing Tech II - Children’s Sterile Processing
Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes surgical instrument sets, procedural trays, and mechanical equipment for the OR and ancillary departments. Operates sterilizers, prepares and dispenses sterile items; performs inspection, cleaning and general servicing of instruments for the OR, internal hospital departments and off-site agencies to insure instruments are operating properly prior to issuing. Maintains accuracy of 98% or higher. Maintains productivity 90% or higher. Able to precept and mentor new employees. Facilitates the interactions between the SPD and OR. The decisions made by the Sterile Processing Technician and the interpersonal skills used to implement those decisions must foster an environment of caring and dedication amongst the employees. Serve as a role model to others in the department. This job profile may require call subject to the department’s discretion.
Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma/GED and 1 year of sterile processing or surgical technology experience

Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy. Preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching required. General knowledge of function and maintenance of instrumentation. Basic computer skills. Basic reading and writing skills
