Job summary

Wesley Woodlawn Hospital & ER in Wichita, Kansas invites a Sterile Processing Technician (PRN) to support instrument processing and sterile supply workflows. You will decontaminate, sterilize, assemble, and return instruments, coordinating with perioperative teams to ensure timely availability.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is required.
• Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage surgical instruments and trays per standards and regulations.
• Decontaminate, sterilize, assemble, and return instruments for use.
• Support daily SPD operations and coordinate with Supply Chain.
• Report damaged instruments and communicate with leadership.
• Maintain certifications and participate in trainings to stay compliant.
• Meet productivity, tray audits, and instrument rotation metrics.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you support the mission of Wesley Healthcare of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.

What you should expect to do in this role:

• Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility, in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards.
• Properly handles, decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes and returns for use all instrumentation in accordance with the above organizational standards.
• Supports daily operations of any activities that pertain to the processing of reusable instrumentation.
• Works with other departments, including Supply Chain, in order to provide all necessary items to perioperative services.
• Reporting of broken instrumentation, and vital communication with team leadership and/or manager.
• Participates in educational offerings and in-services in order to remain knowledgeable in the department and to remain in compliance with certification needs.
• Communicates in a professional manner to all staff and facility employees.
• Meet or exceed metric requirements including but not limited to: productivity goals, tray audits, zero dirty instruments, vendor policies and adequate rotation and knowledge of all areas of the SPD.

What qualification you will need for this role:

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician
• At least 1 year of previous Sterile Processing experience preferred
• Medical terminology and familiarity with surgical instruments
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
