Job summary

Miami Valley Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Tech-I to join the Central Sterile Processing department. The role covers decontamination, sterilization, assembly, packaging, and distribution of surgical instruments and supplies, with a focus on maintaining quality under pressure and adhering to standards.

The position offers a 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift with weekend, holiday rotation, and on-site operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required; 1 year sterile processing preferred.
• Knowledge of infection control and medical terminology is highly desired.
• Computer skills and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments and equipment; assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays.
• Monitors wash solutions for quality of decontamination.
• Assembles instrument trays and makes them available to sterile processing customers.
• Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory; distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and equipment.
• Performs environmental maintenance and assists in inventory management in sterile processing and OR areas.
• Verifies equipment functions and requests maintenance or replacement.
• Maintains a clean work area and supports safety and infection control standards.
• Follows departmental policies and communicates effectively with team members.
• Performs specific duties for TIER 1 functions and handles endoscopy/back-up support as needed.
