Job summary

The Sterile Processing Technician at MUSC reports to the Manager of Sterile Processing. Under general supervision, you will decontaminate, clean, process and sterilize instruments in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Minimum 0–1 year SPD experience is expected, with a High School Diploma or GED and IAHCSMM or CBSPD certification. Applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced health care environment and maintain meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent communication and writing skills; able to follow detailed instructions.
• Detail-oriented with ability to work in a fast-paced health care environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of instruments.
• Comply with hospital policies, state/local/federal requirements and quality standards.
• Prepare instruments for Sterile Processing II status and maintain accuracy in documentation.
