Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for instrument/instrument tray/equipment decontamination, preparation, sterilization, tray and case cart assembly, documentation of sterilization processes, and delivery of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment to the Perioperative team. CSPD personnel ensure high standards in accordance with departmental procedures and industry standards. May serve as a preceptor to staff.

• Decontamination: Utilizes chemical agents and automated machinery to clean and decontaminate instrumentation and equipment.
• Assembly and Preparation: Assembles, preps, and packs instrumentation, inspects for cleanliness and proper function, replaces missing instruments, and labels them. Wraps or pouches instruments using appropriate materials.
• Sterilization: Sterilizes instruments following prescribed procedures, monitors sterilization parameters, maintains load configurations, and prioritizes instrument needs.
• Case Cart Assembly and Storage: Picks case carts, documents deficiencies, orders supplies, stocks sterile storage, and collaborates with sterile core personnel to maintain workflow.
