Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for the Hillcrest clinic, performing sterilization and assembly of instruments used in surgery and medical exams, in compliance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policy.

Under direct supervision, you will manage inventory storage and retrieval, assist with ordering equipment, and ensure accurate record keeping; shift schedule varies and includes weekend hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have two years of recent experience in a similar role and setting.
• Knowledge of effective inventory storage and retrieval practices.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the sterilization process of surgical instruments.
• Thorough knowledge of a variety of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for all activities and competencies related to sterile processing, ensuring sterilization and assembly of instrumentation for surgery and exams in accordance with guidelines.
• Assist with ordering and procuring equipment and instrumentation as needed, and ensure compliance with record keeping requirements.
