Job summary

Baystate New England Orthopedic Surgery Center in Springfield, MA is hiring a Central Processing Sterile Technician to clean, sterilize, assemble, and store surgical instruments, ensuring the perioperative team has safe, ready tools. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and preferred prior sterile processing experience with CBSPD/IAHCSMM credentials or ability to

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in sterile processing preferred.
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire if required).
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, sterilize, and package instruments and equipment according to standards.
• Assemble instrument trays and maintain accurate labeling and storage.
• Operate sterilizers, washers, and related equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor and maintain sterile supply inventory; check for outdated or compromised items.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with teammates, physicians, and other staff.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant sterile processing work area.
