Job summary

Scripps Health in Oceanside is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join the SPD team. You will clean, sterilize, package, store, and distribute instruments and equipment used in patient care, ensuring aseptic standards and timely delivery to operating rooms.

The role requires knowledge of sterilizers and surgical instrumentation, excellent communication skills, and CRCST or CBSPD certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of college training program for SPD or online study program or completion of formal on the job training program.
• Knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation, and medical equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• CRCST or CBSPD Certification (must not be provisional) with six months to obtain after hire.

Responsibilities

• Clean, package, sterilize, store, and distribute medical instruments and supplies used in procedures for patient care.
• Disinfect equipment per asepsis principles and ensure sterility standards are met.
• Respond to requests for sterilization or delivery of sterilized instruments to avoid any patient exposure to bioburden.
• Test and record sterilizer equipment performance to ensure compliance with sterility standards.
• Maintain control systems for supplies and equipment processed.
