Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician I at our Newark location. The role cleans, decontaminates, assembles, and sterilizes surgical instruments in accordance with CBSPD/CRCST, AAMI, and HSPA standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CBSPD/CRCST Certification required (grandfathered for prior employees).

Responsibilities

• Cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment following policy.
• Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes medical devices according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Wrap and label basic and specialty instruments and sets for tracking in CensiTrfac system.
• Receive, unload, sort, inspect, wash and process instruments for decontamination manually and by automated means.
• Reads, interprets, and records sterilization parameters and completes sterilization records.
• Maintain asset management and support for surgical instruments per standards.
• Operate and perform daily cleaning and maintenance of all equipment.
• Inventory and restock reprocessed sterile items in storage areas.
• Assist with orientation and training of Sterile Processing Interns.
• Maintain clean and organized work area following housekeeping policy.
• Answer telephone calls as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as required.
