Job summary

The Certified Sterile Processing Technician at St. Anthony North Hospital promotes quality and patient safety by ensuring efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department and by performing routine tasks related to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies.

Daily duties include operating and monitoring sterilization equipment, maintaining meticulous records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission and OSHA standards, and mentoring

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
• Six months of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, and wraps or packages supplies and instruments using proper techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of proper packaging to promote successful sterilization.
• Adheres to FDA guidelines for reprocessing single-use devices where applicable.
• Sterilizes supplies and instruments using prescribed methods (steam, Sterrad, etc.).
• Operates washer/decontaminator per policy and procedure.

As our Certified Sterile Processing Tech, you will promote improved quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department, performing routine tasks related to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies.

As our Certified Sterile Processing Tech, you will promote improved quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department, performing routine tasks related to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies.

Every day you will operate and monitor sterilization equipment, maintain meticulous records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards. You will also maintain your certification, monitor/instruct/mentor non-certified staff, and actively facilitate the department's preparation for survey/regulatory assessments, contributing to a culture of patient safety.

To be successful in this role, you will be a Certified Sterile Processing Technician with meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of safety and compliance standards, and a commitment to ensuring quality and patient safety in the OR.

• Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, and wraps or packages supplies and instruments using proper techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of how items to be sterilized should be packaged in a manner that promotes successful sterilization.
• Understands the recommended practices for cleaning and care of surgical instruments and powered equipment and the device manufacturer's validated and written instructions for use.
• Understands that devices labeled as single-use should not be reprocessed unless the FDA guideline for reprocessing of singleuse devices can be met.
• Sterilizes supplies and instruments using the prescribed method (e.g. steam, gas plasma (Sterrad).
• Operates washer/decontaminator per department policy and procedure.

Pay Range
