Job summary

St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, CO is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech for a PRN role to support the OR via efficient processing and distribution of instruments.

You will monitor sterilization equipment, maintain regulatory records, and assist with survey readiness, ensuring quality and patient safety in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification expected within 18 months of hire or transfer.
• Six months of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sterilizes supplies and instruments using the prescribed method (e.g. steam, gas plasma Sterrad).
• Operates washer/decontaminator per department policy and procedure.
• Understands the basic principles of all sterilization equipment used in the department.
• Packages items for sterilization to promote successful outcomes.
• Follows manufacturers' IFUs and ensures cleanliness of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas.
• Validates proper functioning of equipment using mechanical and biological monitors.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Sterile Processing Tech, you will promote improved quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department, performing routine tasks relating to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments and supplies.

Every day you will operate and monitor sterilization equipment, maintain meticulous records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards, and actively assist the department's preparation for survey/regulatory assessments.

To be successful in this role, you will possess meticulous attention to detail in sterile processing, a strong understanding of safety and compliance standards, and a commitment to ensuring quality and patient safety in the operating room.

• Sterilizes supplies and instruments using the prescribed method (e.g.steam, gas plasma (Sterrad).
• Operates washer/decontaminator per department policy and procedure.
• Understands the basic principles of all sterilization equipment used in the department.
• Demonstrates knowledge of how items to be sterilized should be packaged in a manner that promotes successful sterilization.
• Follows manufacturer's recommendations (IFU's) and assures cleanliness of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas.
• Validates the proper functioning of all equipment using established mechanical and biological monitors.

This is a PRN position (5 shifts scheduled in a 6-week period). This position is used to cover call-offs, vacations, and where coverage may be needed. PRN is not eligible for benefits but does offer a 15% differential on top of the base rate of pay.
