Allegheny Health Network is seeking a sterile processing technician to decontaminate, clean, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and equipment. The role supports procedural and patient care areas under supervision, applying sterile processing principles to maintain a safe healthcare environment.

The position emphasizes safety, accurate record-keeping, and timely delivery of sterile items while adhering to HIPAA and privacy policies and undergoing required certification

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Pass a nationally accredited central service exam within 18 months of hire; maintain CRCST or CSPDT certification.
• A Surgical Technologist with active CST or TSC meets license requirement.

Responsabilités

• Follows all safety and infection control policies and uses PPE as required.
• Receives and sorts contaminated instruments and equipment.
• Disassembles instruments and cleans them with appropriate agents and equipment.
• Inspects cleaned instruments for cleanliness, function, and damage.
• Assembles instrument sets according to count sheets and tray lists.
• Wraps or packages instruments for sterilization.
• Monitors sterilization cycles and interprets printouts to ensure proper parameters.
• Operates and maintains automated washing and decontamination equipment.
• Loads and operates sterilization equipment.
• Documents sterilization cycles and maintains records.
• Delivers sterile items to requesting departments in a timely manner.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
