Job summary

Kettering Health Dayton is hiring a Sterile Instrument Technician to perform decontamination, assembly, and sterilization for the OR team in a 3rd shift, full-time setting.

Responsibilities include handling instruments, packaging trays, and operating sterilizers such as STERRAD, steam, and ethylene oxide per training. Basic computer tasks and timely instrument pickup are also required.

Commitment to safety and quality in a not-for-profit health system serving southwest Ohio is expected.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Previous related experience and certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination on instruments, equipment, and other items as needed.
• Sorts and cleans instruments and equipment by hand and/or washer/disinfectant.
• Assembles, wraps, and packages instruments, instrument trays, and supplies.
• Sterilizes instruments and supplies using STERRAD, steam and ethylene oxide gas sterilizers as trained.
• "Picks" instruments, instrument trays, supplies, in a timely matter for surgery.
• Performs basic computer functions using a Windows based system as needed.
