Job summary

Ascension in Mequon, WI is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure sterile, safe surgical instruments for operating room teams. You will decontaminate, assemble, and validate sets while maintaining tight inventory control and adhering to IFUs.

Qualifications

  • Credentialing in sterile processing is preferred (IAHCSMM).
  • Certification board credential is also recognized.
  • High School diploma equivalency or 1 year related experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sterile, reliable surgical sets by inspecting, assembling, and validating instruments for safe patient care.
  • Master decontamination and sterilization procedures per IFUs to prevent cross‑contamination.
  • Maintain precise inventory to build accurate case carts and prevent delays.
  • Operate sterilization equipment while upholding strict clean standards for peak safety.
  • Support continuous quality assurance via peer audits and uphold high standards.

IAHCSMM Central Service Tech Credential (preferred)
Certification Board credential (Centre/Certification)
High School diploma equivalency or 1 year related experience

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Deliver sterile, reliable surgical sets by inspecting, assembling, and validating instruments so operating room teams have complete, functional tools for safe patient care.
  • Master decontamination and sterilization procedures following strict Manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs) to ensure zero cross-contamination and safeguard patient outcomes.
  • Maintain precise inventory control to build accurate, timely surgical case carts that prevent costly delays during critical procedures.
  • Operate advanced sterilization equipment with meticulous attention to clean standards, ensuring every piece of machinery and container functions at peak safety levels.
  • Drive clinical excellence through peer audits to support continuous quality assurance and champion high standards across the sterile processing team.
What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Preferred.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board.
Education

for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Preferred.

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
