Job summary

Northern Nevada Medical Group is seeking a Director of Sterile Processing to lead the Sterile Processing Department. This position includes overseeing administrative, personnel, fiscal, and technical activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent, with prior management experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
  • Two additional certifications must be acquired within two years of employment.

Job description

Job Summary

In conjunction with the Director of Surgical Services, the director of sterile processing will direct the hospital’s Sterile Processing Department program. The role involves overseeing a wide variety of administrative, personnel, fiscal, and technical activities and ensuring that the department meets or exceeds TJC requirements while maintaining a cost‑effective operation.

Responsibilities
  • Assure that the standards of operation of the department comply with regulatory agencies (CMS, TJC).
  • Direct overall activities of the unit, including maintenance of labor standards and monitoring the department budget.
  • Provide comprehensive orientation and ongoing training to all new and existing staff, maintaining documentation of staff competence levels.
  • Demonstrate role‑model attributes and develop the skills and knowledge of others.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior management experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one (3) year experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
  • License/Certification required: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Additional two certifications (Certified Instrument Specialist CIS and/or Community Health Level 3 CHL) must be acquired within two years of employment.
