Qualifications

• Six months of experience that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work or provides an understanding of the work.
• One year above high school with health care related courses such as sterile processing, nursing assistant, hospital corpsman, or operating room tech.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable per VA standards.

Responsibilities

• Directs supervision of day-to-day operations in Sterile Processing Service.
• Oversees decontamination, preparation, sterilization, monitoring and distribution of RME.
• Performs supervisory duties: planning, evaluating work, awards, leave, training needs, and resolving staff issues.
• Functions as first-level supervisor responsible for planning and directing a workgroup of MSTs.
• Holds corrective interviews and ensures staff competency and equipment readiness.
• Oversees and orients new staff, assesses workload and adjusts schedules.
• Manages interactions with individuals of varying backgrounds and directs staff to complete tasks.
• Informs management of vacancies or workload increases and supports promotions or reassignments.
• Work Schedule: 24/7 Cross Coverage; Primarily day shift.
