Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a sterile processing technician for the SPD department in Park Ridge, IL. The role involves assembling, inspecting, and decontaminating general and specialty instrument sets to ensure safe, sterile patient care.

The position requires a high school diploma and ideally 2 years of SPD experience, plus strong communication and computer skills. The shift is 7am-3:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays; full-time with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2 yrs SPD experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate and follow directions.
• Computer skills required.
• Registered Central Service Tech credential preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Assembles general and specialty instruments and sets.
• Examines surgical instrumentation for cleanliness and proper assembly.
• Assembles instrument sets following established lists.
• Checks instrument performance and identifies repair needs.
• Acts as resource on instrument identification, location and availability.
• Decontaminates general and specialty instruments and sets.
• Maintains a neat and clean work area; reports improper equipment operation.
• Handles infectious waste per hospital procedures.
• Sets up decontamination equipment and ensures workflow.
• Demonstrates leadership by assisting with daily work adjustments and communicating issues to management.
• Supports quality improvement opportunities and training of new technicians.
