Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Sterile Processing Instrument Technician II to join our team. Under supervision, you will process instruments through decontamination, sterilization, and inspection, documenting steps accurately in logs or our system.

You will prioritize work, assist with dispatch, and support staff across departments. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, 6 months of sterile processing experience (or 400 hours), and CRCST or CSPDT certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 months experience in Sterile Processing or 400 hours of hands-on work.
• CRCST certification through HSPA or CSPDT through CBSPD required.
• Basic computer skills, ability to wear PPE, and ability to interact across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, process, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
• Inspect, function test, and assemble items for disinfection or sterilization.
• Maintain documentation in logs or computer systems for all processes.
• Prioritize instrumentation, answer phones, and dispatch equipment and supplies.

The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician II, under general supervision follows robust processes in Decontamination, Processing and Sterilization by cleaning instruments and equipment ensuring that all items are free of any bioburden, inspecting, function testing and assembling instruments and equipment for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization. The Sterile Processing Technician always follows the Manufacturer's Instructions for Use in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection & Sterilization as well as Department and Hospital Processes and Policies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able accurately maintain the required documentation on written logs and/or computer systems. Documentation includes processes in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection or Sterilization as well as Sterile Processing Department Equipment. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able to prioritize instrumentation for processing, answer telephones and dispatch instrumentation, equipment and supplies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician performs their duties in a manner consistent with our Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Details:

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in Sterile Processing or 400 hours of hands on experience in Sterile Processing.
Certifications: CRCST Certification through HSPA or CSPDT through CBSPD.

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must interact with staff and co-workers across a diverse range of disciplines.
