Qualifications

  • Packages and labels instrumentation following standards.
  • Monitors and documents sterilization processes.

Position Summary

Department: 37719 Carolinas Medical Center: Mercy - Sterile Processing Services Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Second (2:30pm-11pm) and third shift (10:30pm-7am) available. Weekend and holiday on-call rotation requirement. Pay Range: $20.80 - $31.20 Be part of a dedicated team that directly impacts patient care every day. Supporting an average of 60-65 surgical cases daily, our SPD team specializes in orthopedic and spine instrumentation and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. We're looking for dependable, motivated individuals who are eager to learn, take ownership of their work, and help ensure our surgeons have the instruments they need when they need them.

Essential Functions
  • Adheres to safety standards.
  • Identifies, responds & reports malfunctions and/or alarms.
  • Performs efficacy and quality testing for all processes and equipment.
  • Identifies manual and/or mechanical cleaning according to the manufacturer's IFU for all general, laparoscopic, orthopedic, neuro, cardiovascular, power, instrumentation.
  • Performs flexible scope processing utilizing High Level Disinfection (HLD).
  • Determines, prepares, and uses supplies required in the assembly process.
  • Identifies, inspects, assembles general & specialty instruments checking for cleanliness & functionality utilizing count sheets.
  • Packages and labels instrumentation following standards.
  • Safely determines sterilization equipment functionality, operation, monitoring, and maintenance with verification and documentation of sterilization process.
  • Performs high temperature (steam) and low temperature (gas plasma, ethylene oxide, liquid chemical) sterilization.
Physical Requirements

Works in-patient care areas independently under stressful conditions.

  • Continuous standing and walking; bending and/or stooping; reaching and/or stretching; pushing and/or pulling heavy loads.
  • Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
Education, Experience and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
