Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced SPD education specialist to develop and deliver programs for decontamination, sterilization, and OR readiness. This role ensures regulatory compliance and leads competency development for SPD staff.

You will collaborate with hospital departments to implement best practices, perform root-cause analyses, and design training materials that reduce defects and improve patient care.

Qualifications

• Must have comprehensive knowledge of SPD operations, sterilization processes, and OR practices.
• Experience with inventory control, supply distribution and reprocessing is preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years in SPD with teaching or training experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Writes and administers annual competencies for SPD, and submits docs to HR and Education.
• Plans, develops, and implements educational programs for SPD staff across areas like decontamination and OR scheduling.
• Identifies education needs through formal and informal assessments and coordinates continuing education.
• Uses data to improve departmental competency and outcomes, and aligns with hospital protocols.
