Utilizes evaluation methods to determine the effectiveness of individual and overall programs. Ensures department compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Writes and administers annual competencies, submitting documentation to Human Resources and Education departments. Uses performance improvement models to identify and resolve issues and improve outcomes within and between departments. Facilitates and coordinates continuing education opportunities for SPD employees. Identifies employee education needs through formal and informal assessments. Plans, develops, and implements educational programs for SPD staff. Teaches classes within areas of expertise such as decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, case carting, supplies, and OR scheduling. Collects and interprets statistical data to improve departmental competency performance. Partners with all hospital departments to identify, improve, and implement best practices and protocols. Performs root cause analysis, makes recommendations, and develops training materials to reduce future defects. Researches current literature and standards to identify optimal learning experiences for staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
