Job summary

UVA Health Education Coordinator SPD oversees training for Sterile Processing staff across the main SPD and OPSC, ensuring adherence to IAHCSMM, CBSPD, AORN, Joint Commission, FDA, DNV, CDC, OSHA and AAMI standards. Provides guidance to instrument processing teams and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires 3+ years of training and Sterile Processing experience, with CRCST/CSPDT certifications and ongoing CE requirements, and is based at UVA Health with comprehensive

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years training experience required; 3+ years Sterile Processing experience required.
• CRCST (IAHCSMM) or CSPDT (CBSPD) certification required. CER (IAHCSMM) or CFER (CBSPD) certification within 6 months of hire/promotion. CIS (IAHCSMM) or CSIS (CBSPD) within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Staff development: training SPD team members at main SPD and OPSC.
• Leadership in professional development of SPD staff at main SPD and OPSC.
• Ensure employees are trained on all required competency levels.
• Conduct competency assessments and address deficiencies with training.
• Assist in new hire orientation and on-the-job training as directed by Manager.
• Maintain training records and documentation of competency levels and certifications.
• Coordinate ongoing staff education with in-services as determined by Manager.
• Adjust schedules to cover all shifts for training needs.
