Job summary

Prime MSO is seeking an Instrument/ Sterile Processing Department Technician to prepare and sterilize instruments for on-site surgical center use. You will support the Director of Sterile Processing and handle daily autoclave tests, instrument receipt, packaging, and storage across multiple facilities.

Qualifications include SPD program graduation or 1 year SPD experience, BLS/CPR certification, and ability to lift heavy trays. Occasional travel to facilities is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited sterile processing program and/or SPD experience.
• BLS/CPR certification is required.
• Ability to lift instrument trays and equipment.
• Willingness to travel to multiple facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Run daily tests on autoclaves and verify sterilization parameters.
• Ensure negative biological testing and respond per policy if positive.
• Receive and document instruments from the surgery department.
• Assemble, package, and sterilize instrument trays; peel packed instruments.
• Store sterilized trays and peeled instruments in designated areas.
• Order supplies for decontamination and sterilization.
• Perform duties as assigned by management.
• Travel to multiple facilities as needed.

Job Description

The Instrument/ Sterile Processing Department Technician requires preparation and sterile processing of instruments and supplies, while providing on-site support within a surgical center facility. This individual assists the Director of Sterile Processing Department with operational matters.

Job Duties:

• Runs daily tests on all autoclaves and check sterilization parameters to verify that the autoclave is ready for use.
• Verify that all biological testing is negative; ability to respond in accordance to implemented policy in the case a test is positive.
• Receive and document all instruments and equipment from the surgery department
• Assemble, package, and sterilize instrument trays; Peel packed instruments.
• Store all sterilized instrument trays and peel packed instruments in the appropriate area
• Order all supplies used in the decontamination and sterilization area.
• Perform various duties as assigned by management.
• Travels to multiple facilities, on need be basis.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficient in all aspects of decontamination, sterilization, biological testing, and instrument identification
• Ability to lift instrument trays and equipment
• Motivated and Responsible
• BLS/CPR Certified

• Valid CA Class C Driver’s License
• Position may require occasional travel to multiple facilities
