UK King’s Daughters in Ashland, Kentucky invites applicants for a sterile processing apprenticeship to learn the basics of cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and vocational/technical training in a designated technical area.
• No work experience required.
• Apprenticeship hours and preparation for certification to advance into a sterile processing technician role.

Responsabilités

• Learns proper cleaning, decontamination, and disinfection of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Assists in supervised assembly and packaging of instrument sets.
• Observes sterilization processes and learns to operate autoclaves and related equipment.
• Maintains documentation of sterilization cycles, loads, and QA indicators.
• Adheres to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients.
• Supports inventory management and proper handling of sterile and non-sterile supplies.
• Reports damaged or missing instruments to supervising staff.
• Participates in apprenticeship training, mentorship, and evaluations.
• Maintains a clean, organized work area per department standards and regulatory requirements.
