Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to help prepare surgical instrument trays for the OR and Nursing Units, following ANSI/AMMI guidelines. You will ensure proper sterilization, aseptic technique, and maintain count sheets.

The role requires a high school diploma, enrollment in an accredited Sterile Processing Program (or related training), and the ability to work in a team. Certification within 12 months of hire is encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrollment in an accredited Sterile Processing Program required or completion of related training.
• Certification within 12 months of hire preferred (CRCST/CSPDT or provisional CRCST).

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining and preparing surgical instrument trays for the Operating Room and Nursing Units.
• Maintain and update surgical count sheets.
• Follow proper sterilization and disinfection procedures and aseptic techniques.
