Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC seeks an experienced OR/SPD Coordinator to oversee instrument readiness and contribute to process improvements. You will support projects, ensure efficient case flow, and promote excellent customer service in the OR and Sterile Processing Department.

Responsibilities include guiding new hire orientation, maintaining compliance with policies, and enabling cross-team collaboration to uphold quality standards across OR/SPD operations.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; SPD certification preferred within 12 months of hire (CBSPD or HSPA).
  • 4+ years of OR/SPD or perioperative work experience; 6+ years preferred.
  • Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee instrument readiness in the Operating Room and SPD.
  • Support project work and process-improvement initiatives per contractual obligations.
  • Promote customer service and resolve OR/SPD issues to ensure efficient case flow.
  • Oversee new hire orientation and training; assist in oversight of related projects.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Role Summary: Coordination and oversight of instrument readiness in the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to facilitate efficient case flow. Responsible for overseeing and/or assisting in projects and process improvement initiatives in compliance with contractual obligations. Promotes Customer service/satisfaction through resolution of OR/SPD issues within the facility. Perform duties in accordance with hospital, TJC, AORN, AAMI, and other appropriate policies and procedures. Provides oversight to projects and assists in new hire orientation and training. Uses developed skills and practical knowledge to perform scheduled and unscheduled tasks independently.


What qualifications you will need:



  • Preferred Education: Associate Degree

  • Certifications: Must have, or obtain, SPD certification through CBSPD or HSPA within 12 months of hire. Certification must be maintained per renewal schedule.

  • Required Experience: 4+ of O.R., SPD, or Perioperative work experience

  • Preferred Experience: 6+ of O.R., SPD, or Perioperative work experience. Computer skills including proficiency in data entry, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Certified Instructor for TNCC
