Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Sterile Core Technician to coordinate the flow of surgical case supplies and serve as a liaison between the Sterile Processing Department and the OR. The role involves supporting process improvements and quality initiatives with a strong focus on instrument knowledge and OR efficiency.

REQUIRED: High school diploma; preferred: CST with 2 years OR experience or Surgical Technologist with 5 years OR experience; color vision must be adequate for unit-specific roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience as a Sterile Core Technician.
• Certified Central Service Technician with 2 years surgical processing experience
• or Surgical Technologist with five (5) years of operating room experience.
• Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the flow of surgical case supplies and oversees daily SPD-OR activities to facilitate case flow.
• Assists in projects, process improvement and quality initiatives.
• Promotes customer service/satisfaction through training, education and resolution of OR frictions for the facility.
• Requires advanced knowledge of surgical instruments, their uses, location, and substitutions.
