JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Technician III

EMPLOYER: Twelfth One, LLC dba Aspen Infusion

DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

REPORTS TO: Director of Pharmacy

SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician III is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist with filling orders received by the pharmacy. Compounding Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for creating compound medication. Their duties include receiving medication orders, measuring quantities, mixing ingredients, packaging medication, and updating records

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Report any misconduct, suspicious, or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer.
  • Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients.
  • Compound, dispense, and package medications under the direction of the on-duty pharmacist.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensure and federal, state, and local laws and regulations; observe the company’s policies on “best practices’’.
  • Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints.
  • Report product incidents as required in accordance with company policy.
  • Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
  • Participate in the company’s Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
  • Participate in company committees when requested.
  • Participate in in-service education programs provided by the company.
  • Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities and certification requirements.
  • Participate in on-call coverage, including but not limited to weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fulfill assigned weekend work schedules to support operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
FUNCTIONS REQUIRING PHARMACIST JUDGMENT
  • Acceptance of verbal prescriptions.
  • Certification of filled prescriptions.
  • Weighing or measuring active drug ingredients without verification by a pharmacist.
  • Reconstitution of prefabricated medication without verification by a pharmacist.
  • Entry of orders into the computer system without verification by a pharmacist.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Current license/certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • One year minimum of compounded sterile preparation (CSP) work experience, OR have three years of CSP work experience
  • Completed PTCB-recognized sterile compounding training program
  • Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.
  • Ability to evaluate options and to make efficient decisions.
  • Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, rules and regulations.
  • Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and use of the internet, as well as word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e‑mail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
