Job summary

Optum is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to perform sterile compounding at our Cincinnati facility. You will maintain competency in sterile processes, manage medication ordering and supplies, and collaborate with a team to respond promptly to compounding needs.

Requirements include an active Ohio Pharmacy Technician license and onsite availability, with CSPT/PTCB certifications and 1+ years of sterile compounding preferred. The role includes a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contributions.

Qualifications

  • Active Ohio Pharmacy Technician license (unrestricted).
  • On-site work at Cincinnati facility, 8:30am–5:30pm, Mon–Fri.
  • 1+ years sterile compounding preferred; CSPT and/or PTCB certifications advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sterile compounding following USP 797/800 and company policy.
  • Maintain competency in sterile compounding.
  • Participate in medication management for compounding, including ordering and receiving supplies.
  • Triage and respond to compounding needs with a team.
  • Document cleaning and monitoring for sterile compounding (daily/weekly/monthly).
  • Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software related to compounding.

Position Location:

7167 E Kemper Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45249

Position Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform sterile compounding according to company policy and regulations including USP 797 and USP 800
  • Maintain competency related to performing sterile compounding
  • Participate in medication management for pharmacy compounding, including medication and supply ordering, receiving and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software issues relating to compounding
  • Participate in completing and documenting all cleaning and monitoring activities identified for areas related to sterile compounding including daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements
  • Work within a team to triage and respond to all compounding needs promptly
  • Maintain ongoing didactic and practical training related to sterile compounding

Required Qualifications:
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Ohio
  • Ability to work onsite at 7167 E Kemper Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45249, Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of consistent sterile compounding experience
  • Ability to work independently to solve high-stakes problems
  • Certified Compounded Sterile Preparations Technician (CSPT) certification
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours with intermittent breaks
  • Ability to lift to 30 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 to $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
