Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Houston, TX to perform sterile compounding in a regulated environment. This on-site role operates Monday–Friday with 7 AM–7 PM shifts.

Responsibilities include USP 797/800 compliant compounding, medication management, equipment troubleshooting, and maintaining training. Requires TX license, CSPT, and 1+ year sterile experience. Competitive benefits and pay range provided.

  • Active and unrestricted Texas Pharmacy Technician license.
  • CSPT Certification.
  • 1+ year sterile compounding experience.
  • Onsite work at 4620 S Sam Houston Pkwy Houston, TX, Mon-Fri 7 AM–7 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sterile compounding per USP 797/800.
  • Maintain competency for sterile compounding.

Location:4620 S Sam Houston Parkway West, Suite 440, Houston, TX

Schedule:Monday through Friday 8-hours shifts between 7 AM and 7 PM

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform sterile compounding according to company policy and regulations including USP 797 and USP 800
  • Maintain competency related to performing sterile compounding
  • Participate in medication management for pharmacy compounding, including medication and supply ordering, receiving, and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot equipment, hardware, and software issues relating to compounding
  • Participate in completing and documenting all cleaning and monitoring activities identified for areas related to sterile compounding including daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements
  • Work within a team to triage and respond to all compounding needs promptly
  • Maintain ongoing didactic and practical training related to sterile compounding

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED OR 4+ years of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Texas
  • Certified Compounded Sterile Preparations Technician (CSPT) Certification
  • 1+ years of consistent sterile compounding experience
  • Ability to work onsite at 4620 S Sam Houston Parkway Houston, TX, Monday through Friday 8-hour shifts between 7 AM – 7 PM
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Certification program (CPhT)
  • Pharmacy and prescription data entry experience
  • Experience working as an Infusion Pharmacy Technician
